What We Learned about the Pac 12 Friday

Jim Mora and his UCLA Bruins hosted David Shaw's Stanford Cardinal. All UCLA had to do was to win and they would play Oregon for the Pac 12 championship. That is all they had to do. But the Cardinal waltzed into the Rose Bowl and beat the Bruins. Stanford was coming into the game at a 6-5 record and clinched a spot in the bowl game, so they had nothing to lose. And that's all they needed. UCLA came out flat and the Cardinal took advance of that. Handing UCLA a lose on Brett Hundley a lose on his senior night. While in Tucson, Arizona and Arizona State battled for the Territorial Cup and a potential chance to play in the Pac 12 championship game but they needed a little help. They received that helped. UCLA went down and Arizona won the game 42-35. That means a rematch of the regular season game against Oregon. 'Zona handed Oregon their first and only lose of the year. But what did we learn? David Shaw still continues to dominate UCLA with a 3rd straight win. Arizona State who was once ranked 6th in the nation lost 2 of 3 games to close out the season. The same team that beat a ranked Notre Dame team early in the year just fell off and is looking to be ranked much lower or not at all. The two best teams will play in the Pac 12 championship but looks like to be a root for Oregon. They weren't happy losing to Arizona earlier in the year and this can get ugly. Marcus Mariota is having a Heisman-caliber season and finally the team is running on all cylinders. Oregon is going to win the Pac 12 and a berth in the playoff but as a conference the Pac 12 will continue to play quality football and it will show during the most wonderful time of the year, bowl season.
