Why Greek Life is Thankful?

Every year young men and women come to Western’s campus and want to become part of
Greek Life, but don’t know which chapter to choose. Regardless of what house they choose, they
choose that brotherhood or sisterhood that feels right for them. With 17 fraternities and 10 sororities,
men and women are welcomed into their respected brotherhoods or sisterhoods.

Thanksgiving has came and gone but the many members of Greek Life are always grateful for their brothers and sisters. “I am thankful for the unconditional love, support, and encouragement I receive from my sisters. I’m thankful to have my home away from home within Phi Sigma Sigma,” said Lydia Quinones.

Everyone is thankful for his or her families that are miles away but when away at school there is another family that all Greeks are thankful for. For all, their sisterhood or brotherhood is very important to them. “As cliché as it sounds, my sisterhood is important to me because I know no matter what my sisters will always be there for me. Coming to college I never thought that I would join a sorority, but after going through formal recruitment I knew that Alpha Sigma Tau is the chapter I wanted to be in.,” said Emily Cranston. Every chapter is unique and everyone has a different experience in his or her brotherhood or sisterhood. This makes them into who they are today.

“Brotherhood is important to me because it allows me to become close with my brothers around me who I can always count on to help me with anything I could need. From now to 20 years down the road, I know these guys have my back on anything and they can say the same about me,” said Tony Benedetti of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. College is only four years, but
the bond lasts a lifetime.

Justin Contreras of Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity Inc. describes
brotherhood as, “an indescribable bond, where I know that I can call on any of my chapter members at any time for any reason. Brotherhood to me is sharing success, hard ache, failure and memories based within the organization.” Every individual in the Greek community can get thanks to all of those that came before them and those who are with them today. The importance of our brothers and sisters to us is truly special. As a Greek community, each member is grateful for their brotherhood or sisterhood.
