Walter Payton runner up Vernon Adams signs with Oregon

Eastern Washington's QB decided to transfer today to the University of Oregon. He looks to replace Heisman trophy winner Marcus Mariota. He comes in being the favorite for the starting quarterback position.

After three seasons with the Eagles, Adams compiled some impressive stats. He threw for 10,438 yards, 110 touchdowns, and only threw 31 interceptions. Adams was the runner up to John Robertson for the Walter Payton Award, which is given to the best FCS offensive player.

The Ducks weren't the only team in the running for the QB. According to The Oregonian, Texas and UCLA showed interest, the Ducks were the lucky ones.

Adams won't be able to start camp until he finishes his degree in the spring. Junior Jeff Lockie, Sophomores Ty Griffin and Taylor Allie, and redshirt freshman Morgan Mahalak head into spring practice with the hopes to win the job.

Adams is eligible to play right away. Oregon opens their season aganist Eastern Washington on Sept. 5th.
