Is Josh Hamilton still worth the money?
Josh Hamilton is in his third season of his five year, $125 million contract. Today, the Angels found out that Hamilton will need shoulder surgery.
This surgery has a six to eight week recovery. Lucky for him, he might be ready for opening day. Hamilton has battled injuries most of the time with the Angels. They were hoping when they signed him, they would be getting 30 home runs and 100 RBI's. First two seasons with the Angels, he combined to hit 31 home runs and drove in 123 runs. That's not Josh Hamilton numbers.
Will this be another big contract bust like MLB has seen over the years. He hasn't had low numbers since the '09 season when he played only 89 games for the Rangers. Grant Green looks to be ready if Hamilton continues to struggle.
MLB teams need to start reviewing these massive contracts they are giving these players. Hamilton needs to have a good season or this deal was a huge failure.
