Gordon on the Pole for his Final 500

What's new. Jeff Gordon starts on the pole for his last Daytona 500. After three rounds of qualifying, Gordon post a 46.711 lap. Gordon will be on the front row with his Hendrick teammate, Jimmie Johnson.

Gordon was happy with the pole, but other drivers were not happy with the new format. Reed Sorensen and Clint Bowyer got tangled up in turn two and Bowyer was not happy. He called it a "cute show."

But Gordon only sang praises after his 78 pole in his career. "I can't think of anything cooler than to start this season, the Daytona 500, my final Daytona 500, final full season, on the pole," Gordon said. "It's going to be pretty important for me to be on that pole when it all starts."

Gordon looks to head into the 500 as a favorite along with Johnson. With the Budweiser Duals set to be raced on Thursday, drivers will look to improve on their qualifying effort for The Great American Race.

Maybe it's me being a fan, but this fairytale looks like it will end in victory lane for Gordon.
