VIdeo Critique of the NASCAR Race from Richmond

NASCAR is a sport that involved 43 racers racing around a track. This video was about Sunday’s race from Richmond International Raceway. The video was shown Monday morning on ESPN’s Sportscenter. 

Two people were analyzing the highlight. One of the analysts was Ricky Craven. He is a retired NASCAR driver. This was very beneficial because he has vast knowledge of the sport and was about to go in-depth about why certain things happened during the race. The video was a short 2 minutes and 4 seconds, but they showed all the important events that were going on during the race.  Craven was able to explain events that the average viewer didn’t understand. 

With NASCAR not being that popular, they were able to explain everything in detail. The video had many highlights and was very clear explaining what was going on during the race. Sportscenter displayed captions on who was who and where they were at when something happened. It’s hard to explain everything that happens in a race, but both analysts were able to explain situations.  

The only issue with the video story was at the end of the video; they didn’t show an accident that they were talking about so people couldn’t connect with what was being said. Sportscenter does a great job with video stories and this one was no different.

Brett Taylor: Bleacher Nation

One of my favorite multimedia journalists is Brett Taylor. He covers everything Chicago Cubs. In 2008, he created Bleacher Nation, which is a website about the Chicago Cubs. He has a strong following on social media. With over 28,000 followers on Twitter and 6,800 on Facebook, he is well-respected writer to give information to his fellow Cubs fans. 

He started off as a lawyer but his passion was the Cubs and then became a full-time blogger. He is a very effective multimedia journalist because he is all over social media and blogs. Once information is out, he wants his followers to know what is going on in the Chicago Cubs organization. 

He also created his own personal brand, which is Bleacher Nation. It’s not just a website but a life style. Fans across Chicago follow Bleacher Nation and embody what Taylor is saying. He is very professional and doesn’t get critical with the Cubs. His positive attitude is shown through his work and I can easily connect with his passion for the Cubs. 

Whenever I hear information not directly from a source close to the Chicago Cubs, I see what Brett Taylor says about what is going on. He is a great insider and Cubs fans around the country need to follow this journalist. Professional and trustworthy with what he is putting out there in the media.  

Critique of Apple's Social Media Policy

The Apple Retail Blogging and Online and Online Social Media Guidelines are a very fair social media policy. They let employees have their own blog, Facebook, Twitter accounts. It’s their own choice to have these different accounts. They give details about how to approach posting on social media accounts. 

Every Apple employee represents his or her company on those websites. They outline what you should and shouldn’t say on those social media websites. For example, the policy explains how to present yourself in online social networks. They want the employees to know the lines between public and private, and personal and professional on social networks. 

They explain Apple’s confidential information and what not to share on those social media networks. Everything that is stated in the policy is very fair for the employees. Apple goes a great length to show what not to do on your social media networks, but also encourages everyone to use social media. 

It is very beneficial for the company and yourself to express who you are and the company. It explains if you are questioning something before you post it, that an employee can go to Human Resources to see if that will be ok. Overall, the policy is easy to understand and is very fair.

It's the 11th day of the Kris Bryant wait. That means tomorrow is the day he will come up. The next star for the Cubs will be hitting 4th behind Soler. Good luck to James Shields tomorrow. Fowler. Rizzo, Soler, Bryant, Castro. That looks beautiful.

Cubs are in first place with a 5-3 record. They haven't lose a series yet. The pitching has been great, the bullpen even better. With Bryant coming up, he adds another weapon to Maddon's arsenal.

For Cubs fans, the time is here, Well, tomorrow will be the time. The bleachers might be bare but soon will be filled with home run balls.
